Garry was born in Portmarnock in Ireland. When Conor McGregor brought prominence to mixed martial arts (MMA) in Ireland, Garry was encouraged to attempt Judo in order to diversify his martial arts training. He began training in boxing when he was eleven years old.
At the age of 18, he earned his black belt in judo. A few months later, he left school to concentrate on martial arts. At the age of 19, he competed in his first amateur match, and at the age of 21, he made his professional debut.

In February 2019, he made his professional debut at Cage Warriors 101, defeating James Sheehan by unanimous decision, winning the Fight of the Night prize, and signing a contract with the organization.
Before taking against two-fight UFC veteran Rostem Akman at Cage Warriors 121, Garry won four more straight matches.
He won the fight in less than 8 minutes, securing a clash with Jack Grant for the Cage Warriors Welterweight Championship at Cage Warriors 125. By unanimous vote, he prevailed in the contest and took home the crown.
The current Cage Warriors Welterweight Champion made his promotional debut on November 6, 2021, against Jordan Williams, winning by first-round knockout at UFC 268. He stated in July 2021 that he had signed a deal with the organization.
On April 9, 2022, Darian Weeks and Garry squared off at UFC 273. He prevailed by unanimous judgment in the match. He competed against Gabriel Green at UFC 276 on July 2, 2022. He prevailed by unanimous decision in the fight.
At UFC 285 on March 4, 2023, Song Kenan and Garry squared off. He lost the fight by technical knockout in the third round after being knocked out in the opening round.
On May 13, 2023, Garry faced Daniel Rodriguez at UFC on ABC 4. In the opening round, he TKO’d the opponent with a head kick and ground & pound. With this victory, he was given the Performance of the Night prize.
On August 19, 2023, Garry was supposed to take on Geoff Neal at UFC 292. Neil Magny took Neal’s position after he withdrew for unspecified medical reasons. Garry prevailed by unanimous judgment in the match.
