How to Quickly Record a Video of Your Screen With Screencast-O-Matic

Occasionally, I get calls from parents and acquaintances asking for some instructions regarding their computer. Educating them over the phone is often less helpful and more of a nuisance. Therefore, to simplify things for myself and for them, these days, I take a quick video of the solution guide and share it with them to solve their problem.

There are a number of apps available to create screen recording videos, but most of them are paid and the free ones don’t have great functionality. If you want to make good screen recordings without the hassle of downloading and installing any application on your computer then Screencast-O-Matic is the best tool out there for this purpose.

What is Screencast-O-Matic

Screencast-O-Matic is an online screen recorder that gives you the ability to record and share your screen recordings. No need to install any program as it runs on your browser. Whether you are using Windows, Linux or MAC, you can record screen video easily if you are willing to use Java in the browser.

You can ensure that you have installed the recommended Java version for your operating system from the Java verification page before you begin.

My judgment

Screencast-O-Matic helps me create quick video tutorials when I need them. Intuitive pointer suggestions and prominent clicks make it easier for people to follow the video. Screencast-O-Matic has also made sharing easy. Now I can simply upload the file to YouTube and share the link instead of uploading it to some file hosting service.
