We love the Windows 7 Taskbar at Guiding Tech. And that means we love talking about it now and then.
We’ve published articles in the past on how you can pin almost anything to the Windows 7 taskbar, search the Internet from the taskbar, get the most out of taskbar jumplists, and some cool taskbar-related shortcuts in our incredibly popular Windows 7 keyboard shortcuts list.
Sooner or later, you’ll find that accessing new program windows means scrolling up and down the taskbar. You’ve pinned so many things in there that any new apps will automatically be pushed down. And that can be frustrating.
Now you can always increase the height of the taskbar but that eats up the screen area. Not very convenient usually.
What you probably want to do is make the taskbar show small icons of pinned programs. That way it can hold more content without showing the scrollbar. This simple 3-step guide will show you how to do just that.
Step 1. Right-click anywhere on an empty space on the taskbar. You should see an option that says Properties. Click it.
Step 2. The Taskbar and Start Menu Properties window will open. In the Taskbar tab at the top, you’ll see a checkbox that says Use small icons. Click on it to put a check mark there.
Step 3. Click OK. You are done! The result will look like below.
Not everyone needs this, but I’ve met people who find this taskbar feature very useful. Are you one of them?
