How to Import Screenshots to Snagit Editor, Batch Convert

One task that I do every day as part of my job is to take screenshots on my smartphone and then process them on my computer. If you have been following my articles, you must have noticed how I always find easier ways to transfer files and photos from phone to computer. You could say, I aim higher when it comes to wireless file transfers.

Snagit 2 . Image Transfer

I recently discovered a great way through which I can transfer photos directly to my Snagit Editor and then batch edit them. So let me show you how.

Note: Snagit is a premium screen capture and editing tool for Windows by TechSmith. I’ve been using it for years now in my blogging career. This app costs US$49 and is worth every penny. Try the trial version if you haven’t already.

Import photos into Snagit Editor

First, install the Fuse app from TechSmith on your smartphone. After you install the app, it will give you the option to take a picture or choose from the ones you already have in your library. The app organizes all the screenshots you’ve taken in a separate category making it easier to choose the photos.

You can annotate photos on the app if you want, but I prefer to do it on Snagit Editor. Back in the current task, select the photo and tap the share option on the app. You will have the option to share items with three of TechSmith’s products, namely Snagit, Camtasia, and Relay. I will choose Snagit here, but if you want to transfer the video, you can choose one of the other two products.

Once that’s done, the app will open the camera and ask you to scan a QR code from your computer to pair the devices and start the transfer process. Open the Snagit Editor window and click Document. Here choose option, Connect with mobile device. It will open a window with a QR code along with some information.

Now scan the QR code in the phone and wait for the connection to start. If both devices are connected to the same network, they will be paired automatically and you will see the screenshot in the Snagit Editor gallery immediately.

The transfer was done, but that only solved half the problem. Now I have to resize the photos, watermark them and then save them individually to my hard drive. Doing it manually for each image will take a considerable amount of time.

Snagit can help get everything done in batch operations with just a few clicks.

Batch edit and save photos

On the Snagit Editor, select all the photos/screenshots you want to apply the edit to. Having done that, click Document on the Editor and click Image conversion option.

The image conversion wizard will display and the files you have selected will automatically be added to the batch list. You can add additional files if needed using Add files options and click Next.

Next, add a transition filter to the image. Select options from the drop-down list and add them in turn the way you want them to be applied. For example, in the screenshot, I chose to resize the file and then apply a border to the file. There’s a lot you can do with a photo here.

Finally, select the output file format along with the output directory. You can choose advanced options like color depth for PNG images, etc. using Option button. Sequential custom filenames can also be applied to images after they have been converted using Automatic file name select.

That is all. The images will be saved in the destination folder with all the changes made. You can now import and use photos for different applications.

My judgment

This process may seem a bit tedious in the article, but in the real world, everything takes less than 2 minutes. The profile is saved in the mobile app and therefore it is not necessary to do it all the time. Also the filters in batch conversion are also remembered, so it’s like pressing the next button all the time until the photos are processed.

Try the process, I’m sure you’ll love the amount of time you can save using the trick.
