Zygarde Cells are a rare but lucrative resource in Pokemon GO, and without them, you won’t be able to get one of the game’s strongest Pokemon, Zygarde, in its Complete Forme.
This guide will tell you how to find Zygarde Cells, along with tips and tricks on how to increase your chances of getting them in the mobile game from Niantic.
How to get Zygarde Cells
Before you can start collecting Zygarde Cells in Pokemon GO, you must get a hold of a Zygarde Cube. You’ll receive a Zygarde Cube for completing Step Three of the From A to Zygarde Special Research.
With a Zygarde Cube in your possession, Zygarde Cells will begin appearing on Routes. Zygarde Cells look like green, flickering balls of light. They’re easy to miss, but in my experience, they typically begin to pop up toward the end of Routes, so stay on high alert for the final 100 metres or so of a Route!

To claim Zygarde Cells, you must physically tap on them; the game doesn’t collect them for you automatically. Tapping a Zygarde Cell will net you one, two, or three Zygarde Cells.
You can collect a maximum of three Zygarde Cells per day, and Zygarde Cells can only materialise on a particular Route the first time it’s followed on a specific day.
Why are Zygarde Cells not spawning?
Not only are Zygarde Cells challenging to spot, but they don’t always appear on every Route. Whether it’s bad luck or a bug, you can sometimes go Route after Route without finding any Zygarde Cells.
How to increase your chances of finding them
If you get near the end of a Route and don’t see any Zygarde Cells, pause the Route and close the Pokemon GO app. When you reopen Pokemon GO, unpause the Route, and, oftentimes, you’ll notice Zygarde Cells that weren’t there before.
There’s no way to guarantee Zygarde Cells, but trying this strategy might help you collect them faster!

When you first encounter Zygarde, it’ll be in its 10% Forme, but with 50 Zygarde Cells, you can transform it into its 50% Forme. To get Complete Forme Zygarde, you must use a whopping 200 Zygarde Cells. Once you unlock Zygarde’s various forms, you can change between forms freely with Zygarde Candy and Stardust.
Obtaining a total of 250 Zygarde Cells is a tall task, but Complete Forme Zygarde is one of, if not the best, Pokemon for PvP in all of Pokemon GO. Because of that, it’s worth chugging through Routes and searching far and wide for Zygarde Cells until you amass enough to get the Complete Forme variation of the Order Pokemon.
