How to get Yuffie as a party member in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Ever since her appearance in the INTERmission DLC I’ve been desperate to find out how to get Yuffie as a party member in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, as her moveset and abilities are some of the most fun you’ll have in the game.

The famed Wutai materia hunter combines close-quarters melee combat with ranged materia magic, and she’s also capable of dealing with any enemy’s weakness and staggering foes due to her wide elemental selection – making her a key part of the best party combinations.

When does Yuffie join the party?

Despite first appearing in Under Junon, it’s only when you have finished Chapter 6 and completed the main quest in Costa Del Sol that Yuffie becomes available as a party member.

You can play as her for a short section in Chapter 4, and she does appear in all chapters following her initial appearance – but despite her insistence on joining it does take a while for her to be officially welcomed into the fray.

This is quite the contrast to the original game, as while she has now moved to a mandatory party member as opposed to an optional one, the first available opportunity to get Yuffie was previously after the Mythril Mines. This does line up with when we first meet her in Rebirth, but unfortunately, there is no way, optional or not, to get her earlier than Chapter 6.

Is Yuffie good in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth?

While there are strictly no bad characters, and the strength of each party member is defined by your materia and Folio choices, Yuffie is definitely one of the best that you can pick and my personal favourite to use in battles.

Her speed combined with the sheer number of options at your disposal makes her an absolute diamond in any combat scenario, and you can easily adapt her to suit whatever role you need filling in your party. Sticking some of the best Materia on her only makes her stronger too – so make sure to equip her accordingly.

I enjoyed running her with Aerith as a more damaged-focused character, but you could easily swap Aerith for someone like Tifa or Red XIII and play Yuffie as more of a mage or healer instead.
