Blasting away Terminids or Automatons with the SG-8 Punisher shotgun is a joy to behold in Helldivers 2, but you will need to learn how to get it before you can unleash the shells of liberation.
Like most of the weapons in the game you’ll need to earn Medals during your missions to unlock it, so head over to the nearest planet in-game and fight for Super Earth’s freedom!
How to unlock the SG-8 Punisher
The SG-8 Punisher shotgun is found on the first page of the ‘Helldivers Mobilise!’ Warbond, and will set you back four Medals.

Warbonds are the game’s version of the battle pass model, where you’ll progressively work your way through and unlock new weapons, items, and cosmetics. Unlike most battle passes though, these Warbonds will stay in the game and are not time-limited, so don’t worry about missing out on this particular weapon.
You can earn Medals to unlock the SG-8 Punisher by completing main objectives on any of the game’s countless planets, and also by participating in successful Orders. It should only take you one or two successful missions in order to earn enough to buy this gun though, so make sure to dive into the action and start liberating.

Alternatively, if you want a slightly beefier version of this gun, you can head to the premium ‘Steeled Veterans’ Warbond and unlock the SG-225IE Breaker Incendiary shotgun on the second page for 60 Medals. This has incendiary shells and deals better with light armour, so could definitely be an option if you’re a fan of the base version.
How to equip the SG-8 Punisher

All you need to do to equip the gun is head over to the ‘Armory’ section on your ship and select ‘Equip’ on the SG-8 Punisher in the ‘Primary’ section.
The weapon will then be automatically on your Helldiver when you land on a planet, and ready to tear into the nearest threat.
