How to Enable or Disable Ctrl+Alt+Del Login in Windows Vista

In some older versions of Windows, there was the option to press the Ctrl+Alt+Del button before you enter your username and password to log in. This option is said to provide an extra layer of security and prevent malicious programs from accessing the system.

But this option is not enabled by default in Windows Vista. In some versions of Windows 7, such as the Ultimate edition, it can be found to be enabled by default. In any case, manually enabling this option is not difficult if you don’t mind taking an extra step when logging into your PC.

This guide will show you how to enable or disable this option in Windows Vista and Windows 7.

Click the start button

start3. Now type “netplwiz” in the search box provided. Click on the search result.

Netplwiz

It will open the user account settings. Open High level navigation. In the Secure Login field, check the box that says “Ask the user to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete“. Click Apply and then OK. That’s it. You are done.

If this feature is enabled and you find it annoying to press Ctrl+Alt+Del every time you log in, you can disable it by unchecking the same box.

User account

When your computer restarts, you will be asked to enter the “Ctrl+Alt+Del” button to log in. According to what Microsoft says, your computer is now more secure.
