BitTorrent is such a simple concept. Directly transfer files from one user to another without interference from any server. But the torrent download process is anything but. You need special torrent clients and have to keep an eye on things like peers, seeds, trackers, etc.

It’s a simple torrent download manager written specifically in JavaScript. That means it will run inside the Firefox window and it will run very fast.
How to use Torrent Tornado
Go to the add-ons page and download it. Once the installation is complete, you need to restart Firefox. You will see a new icon in the add-ons bar.
To download a torrent, visit the torrent site of your choice and click the magnet link. This will open a menu box in Torrent Tornado.
First, Torrent Tornado will scan the magnet link and look for all trackers. Once that’s done, you can click Next step button.
This will show you all the files present in the folder. You can click Begin to start a direct download or go to Next step and select the destination to download manually.
Once that’s done, the torrent will begin downloading.
Torrent Tornado’s user interface is like any other download manager. The top half of the screen lists all torrents, name, seed, peer, download speed, etc. The bottom half shows detailed information about the selected torrent.
Torrent Tornado has a navigation bar at the top with options to add new torrent files, stop, resume or cancel all downloads, and a button that takes you to the settings page.

- The utility itself is very fast. You can close the tab and it will continue to work in the background. Clicking the extension button will restart in a second.
- It has all the basic features. From the settings you can change the maximum allowed cache and seed.
- Unlike many desktop torrent clients (look at your uTorrent), it’s ad-free.

Defect
- It’s a download manager made from web languages that works as a browser add-on. Of course it won’t be the most stable thing ever.
- Speed fluctuates a bit too much. Sometimes I hit full speed and a few seconds later I drop to 10% of the bandwidth. Although this could be my internet connection error.

Above all, Torrent Tornado gets the job done. Although the speed drop was alarming at first, I finished a few BitTorrent Bundle downloads. The trick is to leave it as it is and not stare at download speeds like a madman.
