On January 28, 1979, Ashley Purdy was born in Berger, Missouri in the United States of America. He was raised by his grandparents in his hometown since he lost his parents when he was still young. Unlike most of the other Black Veil Brides members, he was never bullied and was considered cool for being different.
He lived in a small town in Missouri until his 18th birthday and moved to Los Angeles, California to pursue a career in graphics designing. He initially got into the Academy of Art in San Francisco but was later transferred to Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles.
His college projects were focused on fashion and advertising, and he eventually graduated with a BFA in Communication Design with an emphasis on Marketing and Advertising. He did all this to become a graphic designer, musician, and singer.
He currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee.
