Call of Duty Warzone was a fresh take on the CoD series, and Warzone 2 has continued the battle royale experience with new features and changes. This has caused it to be one of the most-played battle royale games in the world, but what is the player count like for this month?

So, if you want to know what the Warzone 2 player count for 2023 is, we’ve got you covered.

The current average daily player count for Warzone 2 is 56,600. With Modern Warfare Season 6 here, the player average has jumped up slightly from September – but is still below August’s count.

Steam is the best gaming platform for tracking the concurrent player count of Warzone 2, as the database allows anyone to track the exact numbers. Unfortunately, Battle Net, PlayStation, and Xbox do not disclose player data.

It’s worth noting that the data below only tracks the number of users playing Warzone 2 through the Steam client, and the vast majority will be on Battle Net or console.

Back in Warzone 2’s release month of November 2023, the title saw a concurrent player count of between 250,000 to 480,000.

What is the all-time peak for Warzone 2?

At its all-time peak on Steam in November, WZ2 reached a staggering 488,897 concurrent player count. This likely would have been way more, including all consoles and Battle.net.

Pinpointing the exact player count of Warzone 2 is impossible as Xbox, PlayStation, and Battle Net do not release the data.

According to ActivePlayer, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (which encompasses Warzone 2) has a monthly player average of roughly 7.5 million, but this number should be taken with a pinch of salt as the number is constantly changing, especially around the time an update releases.

Despite this, back in November, the Call of Duty Twitter account revealed that the game reached over 25 million players in just five days, showing how popular the title is.

Whether Warzone 2 and MW2 are dying is a question that’s regularly asked by members of the community. While we can only go off Steam data, it is clear that WZ2’s player count is trending downward overall, but that doesn’t mean it’s dying necessarily.

In December 2022, the average number of players sat at 178,335. This dropped to 96,141 in February 2023 and in July it reached 65,193.

It bolted back up over 90,000 in August, thanks to the release of a new season, but it dropped down by roughly 33% to 55,145 in September, before climbing slightly higher to 56,000 in October.

While these seem like significant drops, it’s relatively normal for a multiplayer game to see this type of decline and as the launch of MW3 approaches, fewer players will be logging into Warzone 2 every day.

So, there you have it, that’s everything you need to know about Warzone 2’s player count and whether WZ2 is dying in 2023.
