Super Mario Bros Wonder promises to bring back 2D Mario to the forefront on Nintendo Switch, but how big is its download size?
If you’re excited about the arrival of Wonder, you might want to know how much space it’ll take up on your console ahead of downloading it. The game is one of Nintendo’s biggest releases this year, but luckily that doesn’t necessarily mean the game is going to absorb loads of room on your Switch.

The digital download size for Super Mario Bros Wonder is 4GB according to the official page on the Nintendo Store. However, the game file size is listed as 3.5GB on a different store page, which suggests the game could be a little smaller. Either way, it’s pretty close to 4GB no matter which store you’re looking at.
The first page also states that additional space may be needed for any installation or software updates, so bear that in mind if you’ve only got close to 4GB left.
Luckily 4GB isn’t all that much, so you shouldn’t have too much trouble making room if you’ve hit max capacity with your Switch downloads. For comparison, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is 18GB, over four times as big as Super Mario Bros Wonder.

If you’re wondering whether to go with the digital or the physical copy of Super Mario Bros Wonder, here are a few things to note.
The digital edition will be available to play as soon as you purchase and download it, but the physical version likely won’t require as much downloading as the game is on a cartridge. All you need to do is pop it in your console and start playing (after any potential updates).
You might be able to find a physical copy for a lower price than the digital version which is currently priced at $59.99/£49.99, but ultimately the choice is yours.
