Ger Brennan is an Irish Gaelic footballer who plays for St Vincents and formerly the Dublin county team. Coming from a family of nine, he attended Belvedere College and while at Belvedere he played rugby, football, hurling and Gaelic football.

Ger Brennan made his domestic championship debut for Dublin against Tyrone on 3 February 2007. He was a member of the Dublin team that won the 2007 O’Byrne Cup, playing against Laois at O’Connor Park in Offaly. The match ended 1-18 to 2-13. He finished the tournament with an overall score of 0-04.

In 2008, he retired from the Dublin team, citing exhaustion and fatigue, however, on 30 July 2008, he was named in the Dublin squad for the quarter-finals and agreed to return. He was a member of the victorious Dublin team that won the All-Ireland senior football championship in 2011.

He won the All-Ireland with Dublin for a second time in 2013, scoring two points in the final against Mayo. In October 2015, Ger Brennan announced his retirement from Inter County football but would continue to play for the club. On 2 October 2023, he was appointed Louth county team manager.

Ger Brennan is a Catholic who has spoken about his faith in God. He said that while non-denominational schools may teach subjects such as science, Catholic schools “allow young students to learn prayer skills.”

Ger Brennan was praised for his “nonchalant thanks” to “girlfriends and boyfriends of players” after St Vincent’s defeated Castlebar Mitchels in the 2014 All-Ireland Club Championship final at Croke Park (speech before a live television audience).

However, just over a year later, Ger Brennan wrote an opinion piece for the Irish Independent in which he opposed the legalization of same-sex marriage in that year’s marriage equality referendum, the referendum was ultimately won by a popular vote of 62% to 38%. His stance has been criticized by others, including GAA star Conor Cusack.
