Gary Wright Funeral: When Is Gary Wright Funeral?

Gary Wright Funeral: When Is Gary Wright Funeral?: Iconic American musician and composer, Gary Wright, officially known as Gary Malcolm Wright has reportedly died.

Best known for hits “Dream Weaver” and “Love is Alive” which both peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, Wright died at 80 on Monday, 4 September 2023 at his home in Palos Verdes Estates.

At this time of writing (Tuesday, 5 September), the cause of his death has not yet been made public. However, a few years ago he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and dementia

Wright had a career as a child actor in TV and radio commercials. After playing in high school bands, he decided music was “too unstable” to do professionally and instead trained to be a doctor in the US and West Germany.

In Europe, Wright abandoned medicine for music and in 1967 became joint lead vocalist in the British blues rock band Spooky Tooth before embarking on a solo career in 1970.

He was also a producer, and frequently worked with the Beatles musician, George Harrison, playing on all of his (George’s) solo albums including his epochal 1970 debut, “All Things Must Pass”

Following his demise, among those paying tribute to the late musician was Stephen Bishop. In a statement via X, formerly Twitter, he shared photos from their together. He wrote;

“It is with great sadness that I received the news of my dear friend Gary Wright’s passing. The attached photos hold precious memories from the very first and last time we shared the stage together, alongside our mutual musical pal John Ford Coley.

“Sad to hear the passing of Gary Wright. Dream Weaver was such a smash in 1976 and once again in 1992 because of the film Wayne’s World. He was also my parents neighbor in Palos Verdes and a really nice dude”
