These protests opposed the $1,625 tuition hike proposed by the government of Jean Charest, and he resigned from this position on August 9, 2012.

In March 2017, Nadeau-Dubois entered partisan politics, seeking the nomination as Québec solidaire’s co-spokesperson and candidate in the Montreal riding of Gouin. He won the by-election on May 29, 2017, and secured the Gouin seat again in the Quebec general election on October 1, 2018, becoming Québec solidaire’s parliamentary leader.
