Fyre Festival Is Back! Meet Fyre Festival 2

The infamous Fyre Festival is back, including its founder, Billy McFarland. And, just in case you were thinking this is perhaps a pitch to raise awareness, it’s not. There are already tickets being sold, at least according to McFarland.

He mentioned via social media that the first batch of tickets was already sold out and that he’d written a 50-page plan to make this plan a reality. It will happen sometime in 2024 and in the Caribbean.

In case you don’t know the complete picture, we’ll examine why this is almost too incredible to be accurate.

The Disaster of Fyre Festival

Some people take risks in life. While some play online slots NetBet, others embark on disastrous, multi-million dollar plans and end up in jail. This is precisely the case of the original Fyre Festival and Billy McFarland.

The story is rife with incredible details, but to put it briefly, McFarland organised a purportedly top-level music festival aiming at high-net-worth individuals looking for an exclusive experience back in 2017.

With people spending $8,000 to attend, you’d at least expect basic accommodations, of which there were none. Lodging comprised unmarked tents, catering consisted of limp cheese sandwiches, and some areas looked under construction.

What about the music? Rap artist Ja Rule also founded the event, and it would include well-known acts such as Blink-182, Major Lazer, Lil Yachty and others. However, Blink-182 cancelled its appearance when getting info on how things were going. They weren’t the only ones.

The backslash was so great that Ja Rule had to clarify online it wasn’t a scam, just a disorganised, broken mess. However, since that can be considered a scam by people, fury turned into lawsuits. It resulted in McFarland being sentenced to six years in prison under wire fraud, bank fraud and making false statements.

However, after four years in prison, McFarland is back. The big question is how anyone, in their right mind, would even consider such an undertaking, given the scandalous past?

It’s All About the Money

Whether McFarland is a conman or an unlucky organiser who’s had a string of bad luck is a matter of perspective. Be as it may, he does understand the value of his brand.

According to him, the Fyre Festival has been the most talked about music festival in the world since 2016. In today’s information age, that is worth a lot of money as a brand. And this is precisely what McFarland thinks led to the “highest-priced pre-sales tickets in the industry”.

In other words, he’s attempting to build hype as he did with the previous incarnation. It’s perhaps a bit telling that no specific locations or artists are booked. However, he did mention that he’s working with the best logistics partners this time.

He also tried reassuring people by mentioning that the money from the tickets would be held in escrow for the time being.

Will Billy McFarland be up to the task this time, or is this another disaster waiting to happen? Only time can tell. Even though you can’t purchase tickets right now, it’s believed they’ll be available soon for the general public. The question remains as to whether anyone would dare.
