Farhan Saeed Butt was born into a Punjabi-Kashmir family. Both his parents are medical practitioners. A music fan from his early days, he listened to Vital Signs and Junoon and focused his music on pop and sometimes folk. As a teenager, he earned a high school diploma from the Keynesian Institute of Management Sciences (KIMS), studied science in computers at the National College of Computers and Emerging Sciences, and later joined his future band with Atif Aslam and Goher.
The band took off and became famous all over Asia. Reports erupted that he had split from Jal, stunning his fans in 2011. He pursued a solo career and made regular appearances in Bollywood.
