Dragon Age The Veilguard release window, gameplay premier, trailers & platforms

No longer subtitled Dreadwolf, Dragon Age has been re-revealed as Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and it’s coming much sooner than we expected. The series has been missing for the better part of a decade, but Bioware is back at it with a new entry in the fantasy world.

As I write this, we don’t know much about Veilguard, but with a gameplay premiere occurring soon, we’ll all get to learn more about the gameplay, setting, and story of the next entry. Read on for a rundown of all the details currently confirmed.

Is there a release window?

The trailer that debuted during the Xbox Games Showcase in June confirmed the release window as Fall 2024.

When is the gameplay premiere?

There will be a full gameplay premiere for Dragon Age The Veilguard on June 11, 2024, which is set to feature 15+ minutes of footage.

All trailers so far

The first trailer for the next Dragon Age debuted at the 2018 Game Awards. It was entirely cinematic and featured some vague voiceover, before teasing the Dreadwolf name, which we now know has been dropped in favour of The Veilguard.

Trailer two was almost exactly the same, coming two years later at the same event, so we didn’t learn much of anything about the game. There was also a behind-the-scenes trailer that came a couple of years later, but it once again didn’t show much of the game itself.

After some developmental trouble, the game was re-revealed as Dragon Age: The Veilguard at the Xbox Games Showcase in June 2024.

This was also a cinematic trailer consisting of in-engine footage, but it was more character-focused, revealing the names of the companions and characters we’ll likely meet when playing.

All characters

As you’d expect of a single-player fantasy RPG, you’ll meet a number of companions to fight alongside on your adventures. The official reveal trailer introduced a few of these and their roles:

  • Harding – The Scout
  • Neve – The Detective
  • Emmrich – The Necromancer
  • Taash – The Dragon Hunter
  • Davrin – The Warden
  • Bellara – The Veil Jumper
  • Lucanis – The Mage Killer

What are the release platforms?

According to the official website, The Veilguard will launch on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
