Is Dragon’s Dogma 2 multiplayer or co-op?
Unfortunately, if you were hoping to explore the open world with friends, the game doesn’t have multiplayer or co-op.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a single-player adventure, and Capcom has confirmed that there won’t be any kind of multiplayer functionality available. However, the Pawns system in the game does have a sort of co-op element to it – it’s just not with other players.

How do Pawns work?
The only feature that could be considered close to co-op in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is the Pawns system. Pawns are AI companions you can recruit to explore the world with.
These AI companions can be characters based on real-life content creators. However, they won’t be controlled by players and instead, they’ll follow you around like normal AI party members. They’ll help you out in combat and you can specialise them to suit certain needs.
So while the game doesn’t have co-op, Capcom wants to create a sense of adventuring with others even in a single-player setting. I’m not sure if that’s better than having an actual co-op feature, especially if it’s optional, but at least you won’t be alone if you want some extra help throughout the world!
