Diablo 4 Season 4 release date & everything we know so far

Season 4 of Diablo 4 is next up, and expectations are tentatively high. Diablo 4 has started to develop a pattern where the odd-numbered seasons are looked on less favourably than the even-numbered seasons.

While Season 4 will only be the second even-numbered season added to the game, players are hoping it will have a similar effect to Season 2, and bring some much-needed changes. That already seems like it might be the case, here is what we know so far.

When does Season 4 launch?

Diablo 4 Season 4 will begin on April 16, the same day that Season 3 ends. This has been true of all the seasons so far, with each one carrying on immediately after the previous.

Unless there is some kind of delay, the new season should kick off on this day at 10 AM PT, 1 PM ET, 6 PM GMT. That said, if you want to check out some of the changes and features of Season 4 you will get a chance before the launch date.

Season 4 PTR is on the way

Before the season starts, a PTR (Public Test Realm) will become available for players through Battle.net. Players will get to try the new changes before they go live in the game proper, giving Blizzard a chance to make any necessary changes before the official launch.

The start date of the PTR is not known just yet. During the Campfire Chat where the PTR was announced, it was also mentioned that the details of the PTR and more info for Season 4 will be revealed in a subsequent Campfire Chat sometime in the next few weeks.

Season 4 changes

Specific details have not yet been given, but it does seem clear that some big quality-of-life changes are coming in Season 4. Among the usual tweaks and changes, it seems like there will be a focus on fixing issues with rewards and itemisation.

The community has been asking for changes in these areas for some time, particularly around Aspects and the number of legendaries with useless affixes. These are just some of the topics that the developers have been hinting at dealing with in Season 4, so it’ll be interesting to see what these changes look like.

So far, all we really know about Season 4 is that changes are coming to address some of the issues around itemisation and that alone is enough for many to get excited about it.
