Chansiri’s family controls the Thai Union Group, the world’s largest producer of canned tuna. The Chansiri family is estimated by Forbes to be worth $720m as of 5/7/19. In January 2015, a consortium led by Chansiri acquired a 100% stake in Sheffield Wednesday from Milan Mandarić for £37.5m and targeted promotion to the Premier League by 2017.

During the summer of 2015, Chansiri changed many aspects of the Sheffield Wednesday set-up including the backroom staff and players, such as sacking manager Stuart Gray

 and replacing him with Carlos Carvalhal, who had previously managed Turkish side Besiktas and several clubs in his home country of Portugal.

Chansiri’s father Kraisorn is the chairman of the company, while brother Thiraphong acts as president. Chansiri himself has other business interests having owned construction and property businesses in Thailand, while he also owns local firm D Taxis and Elev8, who have previously made and sponsored Wednesday’s kits.

It is understood though that Tipparut Chansiri, who was already listed as a shareholder in a number of the family’s businesses including the Thai Union Frozen Products, will not take on any role as a director of the football club.

She becomes the director of Wednesday’s parent company SWFC Holdings Limited, based in Hong Kong and owned by Dejphon Chansiri, who in turn has effectively owned the club since July 2018.

The change has been listed on Companies House alongside the moving of shares from SWFC Holdings Ltd to Sheffield 2, one of the firms set up by Dejphon Chansiri around the time of the controversial sale of Hillsborough.
