Czech professional ice hockey right winger for the Boston Bruins, David Pastrňák was born on May 25th, 1996 in Havirov, Czechia in Czech Republic.

He was born to Milan Pastrňák who died in 2013 after a long battle with cancer and Marcela Pastrňáková. He shares the same parents with his brother, Jakub Pastrňák.

David dominated the Czech under-18 league in goals (41) and points during the 2011–12 season (68). In the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, David was selected by the Boston Bruins with the number 25 overall pick. On July 15, 2014, David agreed to a three-year, entry-level contract.

David set a record on March 29 when he beat the Carolina Hurricanes 2-1 on the road by scoring the game-winning goal in overtime as the youngest Bruins player in team history.

He and fellow rookie Bruins player Ryan Spooner lead the team in scoring during the final 20 games of the season. He was one of just two rookies chosen in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft to play in more than 40 NHL games during the 2014–15 season.

On February 24, 2016, during a regular-season home game between the Bruins and the Penguins, David became the team’s youngest player to ever score a penalty shot goal. His goal came only four minutes into the game and set up the Bruins’ 5-1 victory over the Penguins.

On March 13, 2018, in the latter weeks of the 2017–18 season, David recorded his first hat trick in the NHL as the Boston Bruins defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 6-4 on the road.

In game two of the Bruins’ First Round playoff series against the Toronto Maple Leafs on April 14, David earned another hat-trick in addition to three assists as the Bruins defeated Toronto 7-3 at home.

David participated in his first NHL Winter Classic game against the Chicago Blackhawks during the 2018–19 season, and his goal helped the team win 4-2. David would play in his first National Hockey League All-Star Game, it was confirmed on January 2.

David scored 20 goals in the 2020–21 season, bringing his career total of regular-season goals scored to exactly 200. On May 29, 2021, he helped the Boston Bruins take a 1-0 series lead with a hat trick against the New York Islanders in the second round of the playoffs.

David has played for the Czech Republic’s national teams at every level and has frequently been the team’s leading scorer. At the 2013 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament, he took home the bronze medal, and at the 2014 IIHF World U18 Championships, he took home the silver medal.
