David Crosby Funeral: When Is David Crosby Funeral?: David Crosby, officially known as David Van Cortlandt was an American singer, guitarist, and songwriter.

He was born in Los Angeles, California, United St ates to Floyd Crosby and Aliph Van Cortland Whitehead on August 14, 1941. David Crosby developed a love for music at a younger age and was consistent throughout his entire career.

Crosby attended several schools, including the University Elementary School in Los Angeles, Crane Country Day School, and Laguna Blanca School. He briefly studied drama at Santa Barbara City College before dropping out to pursue a career in music.

With the help of Jim Dickson, Crosby recorded his first solo session in 1963. He was a founding member of both the Byrds and Crosby, Stills & Nash. They (Byrds) had their first number-one hit in April 1965 with a cover of “Mr. Tambourine Man” by Bob Dylan.

Crosby wrote or co-wrote several songs which include; Lady Friend, Everybody’s Been Burned, Why, Eight Miles High, Guinnevere, Wooden Ships, Shadow Captain, and In My Dreams, among others.

Crosby is known for having employed alternative guitar tunings and jazz influences. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice: once for his work in the Byrds and again for his work with CSN.

Apart from being known as a musician, he also engaged in other ventures. Crosby was a cannabis advocate and in partnership with longtime friend, Steven Sponder, they developed a craft cannabis brand called ‘MIGHTY CROZ’

Crosby was also into acting, during the early 1990s, he appeared as a guest star in several episodes of The John Larroquette Show, where he played the part of Larroquette’s Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) sponsor. He also appeared on an episode of Roseanne as the singer–husband of one of Roseanne’s co-workers, who was played by Bonnie Bramlett.

Crosby had a liver transplant in 1994 which was paid for by Phil Collins. He also suffered from Type 2 diabetes and was treated with insulin to manage the disease. He died on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at the age of 81 after a long illness.
