He joined the WWE in 2005 and went on to win two championships there, three worldwide, the WWE Intercontinental Championship, the ECW World Heavyweight Championship, and one each of the other.

In 203 days, Punk became the fastest wrestler to win the WWE Triple Crown, having also won the World Tag Team Championship.

The only person to win two consecutive Money in the Bank ladder matches, he was named PWI Wrestler of the Year by Pro Wrestling Illustrated readers in 2011 and 2012 and took home the 2011 Slammy Award for Superstar of the Year.

In 2014, Punk abruptly left WWE after growing disillusioned with the organization and announced his retirement from professional wrestling.

Throughout his whole professional wrestling career, Brooks has gone by the alias “CM Punk.” Most of the portrayals of him that have been based on his real-life beliefs and demeanor are aggressive, sharp-tongued, anti-establishment, straight edge, and iconoclastic.

In order to elicit the appropriate response from the audience, Punk has highlighted various facets of the straight-edge lifestyle depending on whether he is positioned as a hero or a villain.

In 2014, Punk decided to pursue a career in mixed martial arts and signed a contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) following his first retirement from professional wrestling.

He fought as a welterweight at UFC 203 in 2016, when he was submitted by Mickey Gall. It was his first professional fight. After losing by unanimous decision to Mike Jackson in his rematch at UFC 225 in 2018 (the result was eventually reversed to a no-contest), he was then released.

Additionally, Punk made appearances on WWE Backstage as a pundit and as a color commentator for Cage Fury Fighting Championships. He appeared in the 2019 horror movies Rabid and Girl on the Third Floor as an actor.
