He was born to Bob, a dentist and Lisa who was an artistic director at the Concord Youth Theatre.
Evans shares the same parents with his other three siblings; two sisters, Carly and Shanna and his brother, Scott Evans. They were all raises Catholics but unfortunately, their parents divorced in 1999.

He attended the acting camp as a kid and liked musical theater. In the musical Bye Bye Birdie, he portrayed Randolph MacAfee. During Christmastime, he and his siblings would often perform in front of family members; he recalled that being on stage “felt like home.”
Evans spent the summer in New York City where he attended studies at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute before beginning his senior year of high school. In 1999, Evans earned a diploma from Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School. He attended the same school as Jeremy Strong.
