Windows 7 has pulled all the stops to make the upgrade experience hassle-free. One of its smartest and more customer-friendly moves was to set up the Windows 7 Compatibility Center. The online service has done a lot to dispel the fear of driver and software conflicts when you’re transitioning from one operating system to its upgrade. Remember, Vista has its own, too.
The online hub lists thousands of the most popular devices and software programs (for both 32-Bit and 64-Bit computers) to help you easily determine what will or will not work with the Windows 7 operating system. The first thing you should do when you enter the homepage is visit the FAQ page that explains the whole process in a very clear way.
Start by downloading the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor to check your PC for potential problems with your installed hardware, devices, and programs. The 8 MB tool runs a scan and shows whether your computer is ready for Windows 7 and what to do before you upgrade.

Browse categories
Categories are well laid out with icons and labels. You just drill down into categories and subcategories to search for your software and hardware.
Use filter
When you enter a category page, the Windows Compatibility Center offers several filters to refine your search. For example, you can use the Results filter to show results by category, popular brand/publisher, and compatibility.
You can choose your system type – 32 bit or 64 bit and finally use the Sort filter to sort your results.
Search from the top
Use the search bar to enter the product name – after selecting hardware or software from the drop-down list. You can also click Advanced Search to use parameters such as language, 32-Bit/64-Bit, or compatibility.
Search results are also displayed under the software and hardware tab. You can use filters to sort the results.
After you narrow down the product, the Compatibility Center gives you a link that takes you to the developer’s page for download and installation.
