The legal separation between Charles and Anna Stanley continued for several years, with the final divorce papers being filed on February 16, 2000. A judge signed the final divorce decree on May 11, 2000. In the years that followed, Charles continued to serve as a respected leader in the Southern Baptist Convention and as the pastor of First Baptist Church in Atlanta.
Anna J. Stanley passed away on November 10, 2014, leaving behind a legacy as the wife and partner of a prominent Christian leader. Despite the difficulties that the couple faced in their marriage, both Charles and Anna remained committed to their faith and their service to the Christian community.
