Charles Sobhraj was apprehended by the Nepal Police in 2003 and was given a life sentence for murdering an American national in Nepal in 1975. He was freed after Nepal’s top court on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, ordered his release on the grounds of his age and health.
“Charles Sobhraj is suffering from a heart disease and needs open-heart surgery”, the court said. On Friday, December 23, 2022, he was released and put on a flight at Kathmandu airport to take him to Paris via Doha
