Brad Marchand Children: Does Brad Marchand Have Children?

Brad Marchand Children: Does Brad Marchand Have Children? – Brad Marchand was the oldest of four children born to Kevin and Lynn Marchand over the course of four years. During his junior ice hockey years, his father was known as a goon, engaging in 40 fights in a 40-game span.

Kevin Marchand’s coach taught him how to balance the physical aspect of the game with skill and scoring after he accumulated 358 penalty minutes in one season, a lesson he in turn taught his children as they began their hockey careers.

He started playing hockey at the age of two in Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia, and quickly developed an aggressive playing style. He recalls starting to fight in games around the age of 13 as a way to channel his excess energy. The following year, he struck an opponent with such force that the cage on the player’s helmet was damaged.

Marchand struggled with his temper throughout his childhood, and as an adolescent, he attended anger management classes. As his hockey career progressed, he began seeing a sport psychologist to help him deal with his on-ice frustrations.

Marchand grew up with future National Hockey League (NHL) player Andrew Bodnarchuk, a fellow Hammonds Plains native and teammate for the Dartmouth Subways of the Timberlea Amateur Sports Association.

Marchand, like Bodnarchuk, played for his school team at Madeline Symonds Middle School. During his minor hockey career, Marchand earned a reputation for taking penalties and enraged his opponents, and he developed intense rivalries with both his Cole Harbour rivals and his larger, stronger teammates.

Marchand has worked hard in recent years to shed his reputation as an agitator and focus more on scoring. His first breakout season came in 2015-16, when he scored 37 goals and became a Bruins star.

That same year, he helped Canada win gold at the World Cup of Hockey, solidifying his reputation as a strong skater and goal scorer as well as an agitator.

Increased scrutiny from the NHL has also caused Marchand to tone down some of his agitation: at the start of the 2017-18 season, Marchand told reporters that he and his teammates were limiting their “chirps” and other trash-talking comments in order to make the NHL more family-friendly.

Marchand made his international debut in 2005, winning a bronze medal with Team Canada Atlantic in the World U-17 Hockey Challenge.

Marchand went on to represent Canada twice at the IIHF World Junior Championship, once in Sweden in 2007 and again in the Czech Republic in 2008. Canada won a gold medal both times.

Marchand was named one of four alternate captains for Canada in the 2008 World Juniors following his performance in the 2007 World Juniors.
