How to farm in Fae Farm

You’ll unlock farming, and most of the tools in the game, early on in Fae Farm if you’re following the tutorial quests with Merritt.

Merritt will show you to your farm and provide you with Turnip Seeds to get you up and running. You’ll also need to craft Soil Beds for the seeds to be planted into. To craft Soil Beds you need the following materials:

• Silt – You can get Silt by digging in dark brow dirt piles on your farm
• Sand – You can get Sand by digging in sand piles at the beach or in the mines
• Beech Log – You can chop light brown logs to get Beech Log pieces. There are logs scattered around town and on your farm

Where to get seeds in Fae Farm

To successfully grow crops in Fae Farm you can get seeds from the following NPCs in the Town Center:

• Willow – sells tree saplings to grow various types of trees
• Holly – sells crop seeds. In spring you can buy Turnip, Cauliflower, Bean, Corn, Potato and Pepper seeds. You can also buy fertilizer from Holly or wait and grow your own

Both NPCs spend the day in the Town Center usually, and both have bright green hair if you’re struggling to find their stalls.

Fae Farm: What are the most profitable crops?

The most profitable Fae Farm crop to grow is Beans which sell for 23 Gold each. Especially if you also use Fertilizer to increase crop yield further or to advance the growth time.

The key to choosing the most profitable crop is to look for crops that yield multiple harvests. Most crops will only yield a singular harvest; however, Beans and Peppers will take slightly longer to grow (12 days) but after that they will produce every four days thereafter.

It may take you a while to unlock Peppers as they require farming level 20. As such, at the beginning of a playthrough Bean Seeds are an excellent investment.

If you manage to plant them on the first day of the month, you can have a maximum of five harvests.

All seeds provided by Holly in the Town Center can grow in any season. However, all crops will wither on the first day of a new month so you’ll need to clear them and re-plant them regardless.

How to get & use Fertilizer in Fae Farm

There are three different types of Fertilizer in Fae Farm that can either be bought from Holly in the Town Center or made, these are:

• Magic Crop Swap Fertilizer – has a chance to transform a crop into a seasonal or fae variety
• Zippy Fertilizer – immediately advances a crop’s growth by a day. Has a chance to repeat the process every night afterwards
• Bounteous Fertilizer – a chance to increase crop yield every night

How to make Fertilizer

You can make your own Fertilizer once you unlock the Garden Bench recipe. To make a Garden Bench, you will need:

• Oak Lumber x3 – Crafted by placing ten Oak Logs into a Lumber Station. Oak logs can be obtained from chopping down darker brown, larger trees (requires at least a Copper Axe)
• Clay x15 – This can be obtained from clay rocks in the mines or from digging up soil spots on the farm.
• Silt x15 – Dig up soil spots on the farm to get Silt.

Fertilizer recipes include natural ingredients. Ingredients like Bug Juice, Frog Sweat, Shell Bits and Flutter Dust come from catching different bugs. You can also harvest these ingredients by placing the associated bugs in a Lowlands Critter Conservatory (costs Beech Lumber x5, Stone Brick x5, Plant Fibers x20 and Silt x20 to make).

To use Fertilizer simply interact with a watered crop whilst you have the Fertilizer in your inventory. It should come up as an option, in which you can click it to fertilize the crop.

Fae Farm seasonal fae crops

Fae crops are an alternative to regular crops and can only be achieved by placing Magic Crop Swap Fertilizer on planted crops. They are also seasonal, meaning you will get a different outcome depending on the season it is.

Once you have a fae crop, you can convert it into seeds at a Garden Bench meaning you’ll have a steady supply of it.
