American politician, Benjamin Eric Sasse was born on February 22nd, 1972 in Plainview, Nebraska in the United States of America.
Sasse was born to Linda Sasse and Gary Lynn Sasse. In 1990, he received his diploma from Fremont Senior High School as the class valedictorian.
Sasse earned a bachelor’s degree in government from Harvard College in 1994. Additionally, as part of a junior year abroad program, he spent the fall of 1992 studying at the University of Oxford. Sasse graduated with a Master of Arts in liberal studies in 1998 from St. John’s College’s Graduate Institute.
He graduated from Yale University with a Master of Arts, a Master of Philosophy, and a Ph.D. in history in 2004. Harry Stout and Jon Butler were the directors of his dissertation. The Mustard Seed Foundation chose Sasse to be a Harvey Fellow in 2000.

Republican Mike Johanns was not running for reelection at the time, so Sasse declared his candidacy in October 2013. As of October 2013, his first-quarter fundraising total of almost $815,000 from individual donors broke Johanns’ previous record of $526,000 set in 2007 while serving as the United States Secretary of Agriculture.
Sasse defeated Democrats Preston Love Jr., who had the backing of the state Democratic party, and Chris Janicek, who won the Democratic primary, in 2020. With 62.7% of the vote, Sasse won. On January 6, 2015, Sasse took the oath of office to serve in the U.S. Senate.
