His full name is Benjamin Thomas Mee. Ben Mee was born on September 21, 1989 in Sale, Manchester, England, United Kingdom. He started his career with the youth academy of Manchester City. He signed his first professional contract with the club in September 2007. He captained the City team that won the 2007/2008 FA Youth Cup. In February 2009, he signed a new two-year contract that would keep him at City until June 2011.
On 1st January 2011, Mee joined Championship club Leicester City side on loan for the rest of the 2010/2011 season. After signing for the club, Mee would join his Manchester City’s teammate Greg Cunningham at Leicester City. After the end of the season, Mee returned to Manchester City after six months at Leicester.
On 14th July 2011, Mee was loaned to Burnley for the 2011/2012 season. He said that his good performance at Burnley could earn him a chance back at parent club Manchester City next year. On 10th January 2012, Burnley boss Eddie Howe expressed interest in signing Mee on a permanent basis.
Mee joined on a permanent three-and-a-half-year deal on 17th January, 2012 for an undisclosed fee. In the 2014/2015 season, Mee signed a three-year contract that would keep him until 2017. On 8th August 2018, Mee signed a new three-year deal with Burnley to keep him until June 2021. On 29th July 2020, Burnley triggered an option in Mee’s contract to extend his stay at Turf Moor until 2022. Burnley announced on June 10 that Mee would leave the club at the end of June when his contract expired.
On 22nd July, 2002, Mee signed for Premier League club Brentford, a two-year contract. On his home debut, Mee scored his first Brentford goal in a 4–0 win over Manchester United on 13th August, helping the Bees secure their first league victory over United since 1937.
As at 29th October, 2022, Ben Mee has made 404 appearances in his entire club football and scored 14 goals. He plays as a left footed central defender.
