Australia T20 World Cup 2021 Squad and Playing 11

The Australian Cricket Team is always the team to beat when it comes to ICC Tournaments. In spite of the fact that they are yet to conquer the T20 format in the World Cup stage, their record in the 50 over format and the skills they possess make them the team to beat in the World Cup. The mighty Aussies start their campaign against South Africa on October 23 at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi. Let’s have a look at the Australia T20 WC squad.

Australia T20 World Cup 2021 Squad: Aaron Finch (c), David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Steve Smith, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Wade (wk), Ashton Agar, Mitchell Starc, Josh Inglis, Kane Richardson, Adam Zampa, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Swepson, Glenn Maxwell, Pat Cummins.

Reserves: Dan Christian, Nathan Ellis, Daniel Sams.

Strengths: The strength of this team lies in the bowling department. With the trio of Starc, Cummins, and Hazlewood, the Aussies stand right on top in terms of quality and experience in bowling. The opening partnership of Warner and Finch and the firepower of Maxwell provide a great balance to the team.

Weaknesses: The batting line-up of the Aussies tends to struggle in slow sluggish pitches and seeing the kind of pitches that were provided for the IPL, it may turn out to be a boomerang for them.

Australia T20 World Cup 2021 Probable Playing 11: David Warner, Aaron Finch (c), Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Wade (wk), Ashton Agar, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa, Josh Hazlewood.

The Aussies also have an extra leg-spin option with Mitchell Swepson who played decently against India in the T20 series that was played in Australia. He might prove to be a handy option in the latter stages of the tournament with pitches becoming slow. The all-around options of Maxwell, Stoinis, and Marsh provide good depth to the batting. Overall they appear to be a settled unit leading to the tournament and would be one of the favorites to win the title.
