Arnaldo Silva is said to have been arrested after the North Branford Police Department responded to a report of a possible domestic dispute on Monday night.
Upon arrival at the scene by the police officer, Arnaldo reportedly had a bloody nose and was dressed in clothing that was also covered in blood.
Officers allegedly spotted a trail of blood that began in the living room and carried on down a hallway and into Arnaldo’s bedroom.
After a sweep of the home, officers found out that Arnaldo had killed his daughter’s 2-year-old bulldog and located a bloody kitchen knife in its kennel.
The department stated in its release that Arnaldo “also appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and was uncooperative with the officers”
The statement also added that due to Arnaldo’s condition, he was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital for medical attention
According to the police department, the dog was taken to a veterinary hospital to conduct an autopsy to determine his cause of death.
