Analysing Chantelle Cameron’s Last Five Bouts

Chantelle Cameron stunned the boxing world when she defeated the legendary Katie Taylor in her own backyard in Dublin earlier this year.

The English fighter is on a mission to do it all again when they pair trade blows for a second time back at the 3Areana in the Irish capital on November 25.

After entering the first fight as the underdog, those weighing up a bet on Chantelle Cameron v Katie Taylor will likely be more inclined to be in favour of Cameron after her majority decision victory last time out.

With so much on the line for both fighters, who knows what could happen on November 25? Taylor is out to avenge herself, while Cameron plans to be more aggressive in her approach.

So, as she seeks a second win over Taylor, let’s take a look back at some of her recent fights.

Katie Taylor – Won by majority decision

Not only were the odds stacked against Cameron ahead of this fight, but Taylor also had home advantage for the first time in her professional career — and the passionate Irish fans turned the 3Arena into a lion’s den.

The loud jeers didn’t seem to bother Cameron, however, and she largely outboxed her 37-year-old opponent — landing an array of body and headshots — with the judges scoring the bout 96-94, 96-94 and 95-95 in her favour after an intense 10 rounds.

Jessica McCaskill – Won by unanimous decision

Last November, a victory over Jessica McCaskill at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi saw Cameron become the undisputed super-lightweight champion — and thus, the United Kingdom’s maiden undisputed female world champion.

The Northampton native had already claimed the WBC and IBF belts, but was the underdog for this bout with those using a bet calculator to work out the odds.

However, her commanding unanimous decision victory (97-93, 96-94, 96-94) over McCaskill — who previously lost to Taylor — saw her strip the American of the WBO and WBA titles.

Victoria Bustos – Won by unanimous decision

Cameron successfully defended her unified IBF and WBC super-lightweight belts with a unanimous decision victory over Victoria Bustos at London’s O2 Arena last May.

Another former opponent of Taylor, losing her IBF lightweight title to the Irishwomen at the Barclays Center in New York in 2018, Bustos could barely land a glove on Cameron. She ultimately won the fight by taking every round as all three judges scored the bout 100-90 in her favour.

Mary McGee – Won by unanimous decision

Cameron won her aforementioned IBF belt with a unanimous decision victory over Mary McGee back at the O2 Arena in October 2021 — unifying the WBC and IBF super-lightweight titles in the dominant victory.

The American boasted plenty more experience in the ring than the Englishwomen, with this being her 32nd professional fight. But she was outclassed by Cameron, who landed right hands for fun throughout the 10 rounds en route to a 100-90, 99-91 and 99-92 win.

Melissa Hernandez – Won by TKO

Cameron made her United States debut against Melissa Hernandez in the Mandalay Bay Resort’s Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas, and she won via stoppage for the eighth time in her career to defend her WBC title.

Cameron was on the front foot from the first bell and had her Puerto Rican opponent against the ropes in the third before knocking her down in the fourth. The referee put a stop to the fight in the fifth as the Briton landed a barrage of defenceless punches.
