Iha eventually fell in love with the band’s bassist D’arcy Wretzky, but the couple split up soon before the band’s appearance at the Reading Festival in 1992. After a brief conflict, Iha maintained a warm and close friendship with Wretzky, referring to her as a best friend.

Let It Come Down, Iha’s solo album, was modestly popular in 1998. This album spawned one music video, for the song “Be Strong Now,” which was released as a four-track single.

Iha did not participate in the revival of the “Smashing Pumpkins” name by former comrades Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlin and had not spoken to Corgan in years. When Corgan and Chamberlin reunited in 2008, the “door was open” for Iha to rejoin, but he declined, and Corgan remarked that he “can now say definitively that Iha isn’t ever coming back.”

Iha appeared unannounced on stage with Corgan and Chamberlin at back-to-back Smashing Pumpkins shows at the Ace Hotel in downtown Los Angeles on March 26 and 27, 2016. On April 14, 2016, Iha performed a third gig with the band at Chicago’s Civic Opera House. Reunion rumors surfaced in 2017, then in 2018, Iha was photographed in the studio and at a photo session with Corgan, Chamberlin, and current Smashing Pumpkins guitarist Jeff Schroeder, confirming his return to the band.

The reformed band started on the Shiny And Oh So Bright Tour in the summer of 2018, which was followed by the publication of their album Shiny and Oh So Bright, Vol. 1 / LP: No Past at the end of the year. There is no future. No Sun. Iha would later record Cyr with the reformed lineup, which would be released in November 2020.
