The American country singer, Kacey Lee Musgraves was born on August 21st 1988 to Craig and Kareen Musgraves. She was born in Golden in Texas. Kacey Lee Musgraves shares the same parent with her sister, Kelly Musgraves who happens to be a photographer.

Early Life

Kacey Musgraves’ father, Craig Musgraves was the sole-proprietor of a small printing business, M-Prints Printing, Inc., in Mineola in Texas and her mother was also an artist. Kacey claims that she was born six weeks prematurely and she weighed only five pounds after she was born. When Musgraves was eight years old, she composed her first song, “Notice Me,” for her elementary school graduation.  She began studying music on the mandolin before beginning guitar lessons at age 12 with a local musician named John DeFoore, which she subsequently cited as one of the most significant events in her life.

Her mother took Musgraves to local music festivals where she sang western swing songs. She collaborated with fellow student Alina Tatum to establish the children’s country music duo Texas Two Bits, which performed at President George W. Bush’s “Black Tie and Boots Inaugural Ball” and toured Texas. The group also recorded an independent CD in 2000. Her first solo, self-released CD was supported by her family at the age of 14. When she was 18 years old, she relocated to Austin, Texas, after graduating from Mineola High School. Musgraves participated in Nashville Star’s Season 5 singing competition in 2007 and finished seventh.

Career

While residing in Austin in 2008, producer Monte Robison for his small record label, Triple Pop, made a professional discovery of Musgraves. In 2010, she co-wrote the song “Oh, Tonight” with the Josh Abbott Band. In its list of the 100 Greatest Country Songs of All Time, “Follow Your Arrow” was ranked number 39, and Musgraves was hailed as “one of the loudest emblems of young country performers embracing progressive principles.” On October 17, 2012, one of Nashville’s first episodes of the first season included the song “Undermine,” which Musgraves and Trent Dabbs co-wrote. The 2013 single “Mama’s Broken Heart” by Miranda Lambert was co-written by Musgraves, who also performed harmony on the song.
