American HipHop rapper, Howard Earl Bailey Jr., popularly known as Chingy was born on March 9th 1980 in St. Louis Missouri in the United States of America. He was born to Vernita Crawford who passed on on April 7th 2017 and Howard Bailey Sr., his father. Chingy is said to be the middle child of five children.
Early Life
Chingy was born and raised in Walnut Park, St. Louis, Missouri, which he has referred to as the “Bad Blocks.” By age 9, he started writing songs, and at age 10, he was recording raps. He was a member of the St. Louis group Without Warning on 49 Productions with M.G.D. & Mysphit and went by the name H Thugz at first. They collaborated on the recording of “What’s Poppin Off,” which went viral locally. For the song, H Thugz and Augustin also made a music video. Later, H Thugz selected the moniker Chingy, a shorthand for cash. Chingy went to McCluer North High School in the St. Louis enclave of Florissant, Missouri. He was known as “Howie” by his buddies in high school, and he still prefers that name among his close friends and family.
Career
Chingy was quickly signed to Ludacris and Chaka Zulu’s budding Disturbing Tha Peace label. On July 15, 2003, Chingy’s debut album Jackpot was made available through Disturbing tha Peace. Ludacris obtained an agreement to distribute the album through Capitol Records after failing to obtain a distribution deal with Def Jam. Ludacris, Snoop Dogg, Murphy Lee, I-20, Raindrop, Tity Boi of Playaz Circle, Trina, and Jermaine Dupri all made cameo appearances. Jackpot created the smash singles “One Call Away” with J-Weav and “Holidae In” with Snoop Dogg and Ludacris as a result of the success of “Right Thurr.” The Trak Starz, a St. Louis-based production team, produced the album. The critics gave the album positive reviews.
Within a year of its debut, Jackpot received a Platinum certification from the RIAA. “Right Thurr,” a fast-paced Southern hip-hop song, rose to prominence and peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100. On November 16, 2004, Chingy released Powerballin’ via Slot-A-Lot Records and Capitol Records. The album had guest performances by singers R and reached at #10 on the charts and featured the smash track “Balla Baby.” Lil Wayne, Lil Flip, Janet Jackson, David Banner, Nate Dogg, Kelly, Bun B, and the Get It Boyz are other examples. On March 21, 2005, the RIAA certified Powerballin’ as platinum after it sold over a million copies. Additionally, he appeared as himself on a George Lopez episode. The soundtrack for the popular video game Need for Speed: Underground 2, released in 2004, includes the eighth song from his album, “I Do.” Chingy made his third recording under the Universal Music Group banner when he signed with the distribution company Bungalo Records. Chingy will take part in B2″Millennium K’s Tour” in 2019. Together with R&B artists Ma and Ginuwine, Chingy headlined a tour in the United States in 2021. He revealed that his first-ever perfume was being finished and packed in the early months of 2022. In September 2022, he made an online appearance on the platform TalkShopLive to advertise and launch the cologne.
Chingy made his acting debut in the 2005 season of the TV comedy My Wife and Kids. Chingy appeared in the television sitcoms One on One and George Lopez that same year. Chingy appeared in a cameo in the comedy movie Scary Movie 4 and on the TV show Yo Momma in 2006. Chingy played a part in the 2010 movie Speed-Dating.

Chingy has been married to Adrienne Anderson Bailey. Chingy has two children namely Mykael Bailey and Alzea Bailey.
