All multiplayer maps confirmed & leaked so far

Call of Duty multiplayer lives and dies by its maps, and Black Ops 6 will be no different. With fan favourites returning, and plenty of new ones to sink our teeth into, they’ll be the lifeblood of what keeps the mode ticking over with each passing update.

Below, I’ll go over every multiplayer map that we know is in this year’s game so far, including the total number and some insight into how they’re designed.

Map list so far

So far, we only know the name of one map that will feature in Black Ops 6, and that’s Nuketown. This is of course the Black Ops classic that’s featured in every version of the game since the first one in 2010.

We don’t know if this map will arrive at launch, but during the Direct broadcast in June 2024, we can see the work-in-progress UI of a player loading into the map ‘NUKETOWN’.

We’ve also seen screenshots and brief glimpses of gameplay from several other maps that will be in the game, such as an overgrown train yard, a glossy high rise with a pool, and even an abandoned mine.

I’ll update this guide once we know exactly what each of these maps is called.

Leaked maps so far

A number of the maps set to be in Black Ops 6 have been leaked ahead of launch thanks to a PS4 build of the game. In the leaked footage, we spot a mix of remasters from older games and new ones that go by code names. This puts the number of maps over 16, so we might expect some of these to arrive as post-launch content.

It’s worth taking these rumours with a grain of salt, as we don’t have confirmation from Activision on which of these maps will be in the game.

In addition to the multiplayer maps, an upcoming Warzone map by the name of Avalon has been leaked too. This is expected to be released in 2025, sometime after the return of the original Verdansk map.

How many maps will there be in total?

In total, there will be 16 multiplayer maps in Black Ops 6 at launch. 12 of these will be Core 6v6 maps, while the other four will be Strike maps that can be played in either 2v2 or Face Off 6v6.

On the Call of Duty blog, Activision describes ‘Strike Maps’ as more compact and chaotic maps than usual. This leads me to think of maps similar to Rust and Shipment, which feature much more close-quarters combat compared to your traditional three-lane structure.

New maps will arrive in post-launch updates for the game, so expect the total number of 16 maps to increase as the new Seasons roll out.

Activision specifically mentions the three-lane structure when discussing the new maps set to feature in this year’s Call of Duty. Treyarch has worked to ensure that maps are designed with engagements in mind, considering how long it takes for players to enter an engagement, with plenty of route choices in each one.

What’s more, all of the maps will have some connection to the Campaign of Black Ops 6. We don’t know how the story of the game will end just yet, but it’s hinted that we’ll see these maps through a new lens once we know where the world ends up at the end of the narrative.

This guide is a work in progress and will be continually updated as we learn more about the game.
