All Crystal Tear & Furnace Golem locations

There are more Crystal Tears to find in Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, and we’ve got all of the Furnace Golem locations needed to obtain every single one.

All locations

Bloodsucking Cracked Tear

You’ll get this Crystal Tear from killing the second Furnace Golem in the Ruins of Unte. This one is found resting within the door to the Ruins, and can only be killed once you wake it up – which can be done by throwing a Hefty Furnace Pot into its head.

I’d recommend taking down the main one next to the Ruins of Unte first though, as the last thing you’ll want is to be fighting two Furnace Golems at the same time!

Effect

  • Enhances attack power by 20%
  • Drains your HP by 1% every second
  • Lasts for three minutes

Cerulean-Sapping Cracked Tear

This Crystal Tear is earned after defeating the Furnace Golem to the east of the Cathedral of Manus Metyr. If you’ve not yet reached the Cathedral (or the eastern side of Scadu Altus altogether,) make sure to check out our detailed areas walkthrough to see how to reach it:

You’ll quickly realise that this Furnace Golem has armour around its legs, so your best bet is to take the spiritspring right next to it on the hill and then chuck some Hefty Fire Pots or Hefty Furnace Pots into its head for massive damage.

Effect

  • Attacks restore a small amount of FP

Crimsonburst Dried Tear

Defeating the Furnace Golem in the soldier camp just before the Shadow Keep is how you’ll get this Crystal Tear.

I found this to be one of the trickier ones to obtain purely due to the number of enemies surrounding the Golem. Not only do you have to deal with the surprisingly dead Messmer Soldiers, but there are at least two or three Black Knights as well that will take you down if you’re not careful.

There’s also a Scadutree Fragment in this exact camp too – so make sure that you don’t miss that alongside all of the others found in the Land of Shadow.

Effect

  • Gradually restores HP of nearby allies over time

Crimson-Sapping Cracked Tear

If you’ve been killing every Furnace Golem on your journey then this will likely be the last on your list, as it’s found across the bridge from the Rauh Ancient Ruins, East Site of Grace.

It’s actually easier to approach the West equivalent Site of Grace, as you don’t have to worry about any projectiles as you approach and can jump straight into an attack.

Effect

  • Restores a portion of your max HP upon each hit
  • Lasts for 45 seconds

Deflecting Hardtear

You can pick up this Crystal Tear from the first Furnace Golem in the DLC, found just to the north of Scorched Ruins in Gravesite Plain. Check out our beginner’s guide for some more tips and key items in the opening area:

While it is easy to avoid on your path towards Belurat or Castle Ensis, I’d definitely recommend killing this one early as the associated item is very much worth it for certain builds.

Effect

  • Blocking just before an attack hits you significantly increases damage negation, while also increasing the damage of a guard counter
  • Lasts for five minutes

Glovewort Crystal Tear

On the western side of Charo’s Hidden Grave, you’ll find another Furnace Golem, giving you the Glovewort Crystal Tear when you defeat it.

This one can be one of the easier ones as there is plenty of high ground to exploit – although, like the one near the Cathedral, this also has armour protecting its legs. Make sure to use the nearby spiritspring to get to high ground and start chucking your best pots.

Effect

  • Increases the attack power of Spirit Ashes
  • Lasts for three minutes

Oil-Soaked Tear

Heading down to the Ruins of Unte from the Shadow Keep will allow you to pick up the Oil-Soaked Tear, as the first active Furnace Golem there will give you this when defeated.

Effect

  • Increases fire damage by 20%
  • Lasts for one minute

Viridian Hidden Tear

This Crystal Tear can be a bit tricky to find, as it’s quite deceiving on the map. It’s actually in the northern part of the Cerulean Coast, at the bottom of Ellac River.

You can get to this through a number of ways, either by heading down the Ellac River from Gravesite Plain or heading through the Dragon’s Pit dungeon, climbing across the dragon, and then dropping down from Charo’s Hidden Grave into the Cerulean Coast.

You can also pick up the Lightning Perfume Bottle in the same area, which is at the moment a key part of the best build in the entire game.

Effect

  • Eliminates all Stamina consumption for a brief period of time

How many Crystal Tears are there?

There are eight new Crystal Tears that you can pick up in Shadow of the Erdtree, making it now a total of 37 different options to choose from including those from the base game.

That also means that you’ll need to take down eight different Furnace Golems dotted across the Land of Shadow, which is certainly a tougher task than you might expect!

Crystal Tear tier list

Here is my own personal tier list of the new Crystal Tears available in Shadow of the Erdtree, letting you know which options rise to the top:

TierCrystal Tears
SBloodsucking Cracked Tear, Deflecting Hardtear
ACrimson-Sapping Cracked Tear, Oil-Soaked Tear
BCerulean-Sapping Cracked Tear, Glovewort Crystal Tear
CCrimsonburst Dried Tear, Viridian Hidden Tear

Some might be lower or higher depending on your own current situation or build, as you might find that the benefits directly correlate with your play style, or that the downsides are too much to cope with in your current configuration. I’ve tried to evaluate their overall strength and usability though, and judge them based on that.
