We have talked about DAEMON Sync using which users can synchronize personal and media files to and from computers and smartphones. The only reason to recommend this app is because of the version 2.0 update for BitTorrent Sync. Damned! It took me hours to figure out everything included in the app and things can get complicated for the average user.
For example, I couldn’t sync files and folders between my Android phone and computer and 20 minutes later I found out that the real reason was because of 10 minutes time zone difference between phone and PC . You can only imagine how disappointed I was. But I won’t let that happen to you.
Here is a detailed guide on how to sync files and photos between your PC and phone using BitTorrent Sync, and to keep things simple, I’ve covered three different scenarios where you might use the app . For now, since most users use mobile-PC sync app to transfer photos from device to computer, we will handle that first.

Sync photos with BitTorrent Sync
Once the app on your PC and mobile device runs and you’ve named the device, you’ll see an option called Camera backup. When this option is enabled, you will be given the option to copy the generated link or email it to the recipient. Since the link will be opened on the PC you want to sync the photos to, email it to yourself and open it on your computer.
When you open the link on your PC, it automatically launches the installed BitTorrent client and configures the folder to sync. It will ask you to set the folder location where all the photos from the particular phone will be synced.
For added security, it will again ask the mobile app for permission before the syncing process begins. You will know the transfer rate and estimated time remaining to complete the transfer on the PC as well as the mobile app. The process is similar for iOS and Android, and the interface is similar on both platforms.
Sync additional files from Android
Due to iOS’s closed environment, only photos and videos can be synced from the phone. But Android users can configure the app to sync additional files and folders. This can be your backup folder or your download folder. To add a folder, tap the plus icon in and select new backup. The app will then provide you with some frequently used folders along with the option to choose a custom location.
After you make your choice, the story repeats itself. Just like while backing up the photos. Email yourself the link to your PC and set up the transfer.

Sync files from PC to mobile or PC to PC.
On the PC application user interface, click Add a folder and select the folder you want to sync with your phone. It can be a new folder or an existing folder. You will be asked to set up sync constraints before the folder is added to the list of synced folders in BitTorrent Sync. The folder’s link can be emailed to another computer to set up synchronization.
If you want to add a folder on your Android or iOS device, you can directly scan the QR code on your phone using the add folder button. A QR code to scan can be generated using the share option on the desktop app.
Android users will have to choose a sync location on the SD card where the files will be saved. iPhone users won’t have that option. But at the same time, you will have to open each file manually and save it with the respective applications.

If you’re a pro, you can pair devices directly and save time sending and receiving links. You also have selective storage and sync options to track the deletion of any files on either device.
