Discord has finally added PlayStation Network integration to let people show the game they’re playing. You can then tell if you’re playing the latest Spider-Man, God of War, or any other PlayStation game.
Of course, this also requires you to be signed in to your PlayStation account. Here’s how you can connect your PlayStation account to Discord.
Why should I link my PSN account to Discord
When you connect your PSN account to Discord, you can share the following information with Discord users.
- Your PSN online ID in your Discord profile.
- The PlayStation games you are currently playing. However, it won’t show any data history.
- How long have you been playing the game?
Using the Discord Desktop App
The ability to connect your PSN (PlayStation Network) account to Discord is available on both desktop and mobile apps. We’ll first cover how to do it on the Discord Windows and Mac apps, and then move on to the mobile platform.
Step 1: Open the Discord app on your Windows or Mac.
Step 2: Click the Settings icon in the bottom left corner.
Step 3: From User Settings, select Connections.
Step 4: Click the PlayStation Network icon in the Connect menu.
Step 5: Discord will open a website to connect PSN account.
Step 6: Sign in to PlayStation with one of your Sony accounts.
You can check what data Discord has access to from your PSN account. For example, Discord can read your name, email, online ID, online status, and profile information and other social data (such as your friends).
It will also access any Discord-specific games, items, trophies, and network information. Hit Accept and you’ll soon see your PlayStation Network account appear in Discord.
Start playing any game on PlayStation. Other Discord server friends and members can see what you’re playing from the sidebar menu. When a member clicks on your profile name, they can also see the PlayStation console version. Discord will also provide a direct button to connect your PSN account. You also have the option of sending a DM (direct message) to that person. Check out the screenshot below for reference.
Using the Discord mobile app
As mentioned earlier, you can also use the Discord mobile app to connect a PSN account. Go through the steps below.
Step 1: Open Discord on iPhone or Android.
Step 2: Scroll to the account tab.
Step 3: Select Connect.
Step 4: Tap Apps in the upper right corner.
Step 5: It will open the Add New Connection menu from the bottom. Select PlayStation Network.
Step 6: Add your login ID, password and review permission to your Sony account.
PSN accounts will soon appear in the Connect menu on the Discord mobile app.
How to make your PSN offline on Discord
When choosing to appear offline on PSN, your PSN online status is also not reflected in Discord. You don’t need to disconnect from the PSN network on Discord to hide your online status.
